Question 29129: solving by elimination
8x-3y=16,
8x+3y=-8
Answer by longjonsilver(2297) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
add the 2 equations together. This gives you
16x = 8
--> x = 8/16
--> x = 1/2
So put this into either equation, to find y
8x-3y=16
8(1/2)-3y=16
4 - 3y = 16
-3y = 12
y = 12/-3
y = -4
put both answers into the other equation and check that the left hand side gives -8 as the answer. If so, then your answers are correct.
