Question 22637: hi im in 8th grade and i need help learning how to solve decimal equations
can you help using 8th grade terms? heres one
2.69-3.64x=23.78x thanx

alright im a junior in HS so it shouldnt be hard to understand

1st
you want to bring that number without the "x" next to it to the other side of the equation, so you subtract it from both sides, remember what you do to one side you do to the other. Now you have:

-3.64x = 23.78x - 2.69
2nd
you want to get the x's on the same side so subtract the 23.78x from both side now you should have:

-3.64x - 23.78x = -2.69

3rd
alright your almost done just combine the two x's together now you have:

-27.42x = -2.69

4th
last step you are going to want to get the x alone so divide both sides by
-27.42 so you have

x = 0.0981

and there ya go
