Question 202223: Need to double check this equation please:
Write the following problem as a system of two equations in two unknowns. Solve the system using the substitution method:
The sum of two numbers is 2, and their difference is 26. Find the numbers.
x+y=2
x-y=26
x+y=2
-x -x
y= -x+2
x-(-x+2)=26
x+x-2=26
2x-2=26
+2 +2
2x=28
/2 /2
x=14
x+y=2
14+y=2
-14 -14
y=2-14
y= -12
The 2 numbers are: (14,-12)
