Since you are already given what y equals, we will plug that into the second equation to find x;
y = 2x - 5
3x + y = 15
===================
3x + (2x - 5) = 15
5x - 5 = 15
5x = 20
x = 4
Now we have x, lets plug that into the equation to find y;
3(4) + y =15
12 + y =15
y = 15-12
y = 3
