Answer by checkley71(8403) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
(20+X)T=25
XT=5 OR T=5/X NOW SUBSTITUTE 5/X FOR T IN THE FIRST EQUATION.
(20+X)5/X)=25
(100+5X)/X=25 NOW CROSS MULTIPLY.
25X=100+5X
25X-5X=100
20X=100
X=100/20
X=5 MPH FOR THE CAT 20+5=25 MPH FOR THE HORSE,
(20+5)T=25
25T=25
T=25/25
T=1 HOUR IS THE TIME OF THE TRIP.
