Probably the most common path to finding the number of calories in each kind of candy bar is as shown by the other tutor: add the two equations and simplify to find the number of calories in one of each, then compare to the given information to find the number of calories in each one alone.

Here is another path that can be used in this kind of problem; you can do this either with formal algebra or informally, with logical reasoning.

(1) 1 Milky Way and 2 Twix contain 737 calories.

(2) Take away one Twix and add one Milky Way and you get 2 Milky Way and 1 Twix, with 778 calories; the number of calories increased by 778-737=41.

(3) So do that again; you end up with 3 Milky Way and no Twix, and the number of calories is now 778+41 = 819.

(4) That means the number of calories in 1 Milky Way is 819/3 = 273.

Then there are any number of ways to use that knowledge to find the cost of each Twix.
