Question 1093171: Kellen's boat travels 20 mph. Find the rate of the river current if she can travel 6 mi upstream in the same amount of time she can go 10 mi downstream. (Let x=the rate of the current.) The rate of the river current is what?

If x is the rate of the current, then:
6/20-x=10/20+x (being inversely proportional)
200-10x=120+6x
80=16x
x=5
The current is 5 mph. ☺☺☺☺
