Question 108039: Write in slope-intercept form.
(-2/3,4) (6,-1/3)

Answer by checkley71(8403)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
SLOPE=(Y2-Y1)/(X2-X1)
SLOPE=(1/3-4)/(6+2/3)
SLOPE=(-3 3/4)/(6 2/3)
SLOPE=(-15/4)/(20/3)
SLOPE=-15/4*3/20
SLOPE=-45/80
SLOPE=-9/16 THE (m) TERM IN THE STARND LINE FORMULA.
NOW SUBSTITUTE ONE SET OF POINTS FOR THE X & Y VALUES & SOLVE FOR THE Y INTERCEPT(b) IN THE LINE FORMULA
Y=mX+b.
4=-9/15*-2/3+b
4=18/45+b
b=4-18/45
b=(4*45-18)/45
b=(180-18)/45
b=162/45=18/5 FOR THE Y INTERCEPT.
THUS THE EQUATION IS
Y=-9X/16+18/5
