Question 1041406: A-b=10
(A-15)=2(b-15)
A+b=?

Answer by Boreal(15235)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
A-b=10
(A-15)=2(b-15)
a-15=2b-30
a-2b=-15; put a and b on the same side.
a-b=10, bring down the first equation
change signs of the a-b=10
a-2b=-15
-a+b=-10
add them
-b=-25
b=25
a was eliminated.
If b=25
a-25=10
a=35
check in second equation.
35-15=2(25-15)
20=2(10)
checks.
The answer is not finding a and b but finding their sum.
The sum is 35+25=60
