Question 98815: the length of a rectangle is 4 more than twice the width. the perimeter is 28cm. What are the measures

LET :
THE LENGTH OF THE RECTANGLE = L
THE WIDTH OF THE RECTANGLE = W
THE PERIMETR OF THE RECTANGLE = P = 28
WE KNOW THAT P = L +L + W +W
P = 2(L+W)
28 =2(L+W)
SINCE L = 4W
28 = 2( 4W+W)
28 = 2*5W
28 = 10W
28/10 = W
2.8 = W
L = 4W
L= 4*2.8
L = 11.2
SO, THE DIMENSIONS OF THE RECTANGLE ARE 2.8 IN. AND 11.2 IN.
CHECK :
P = L+L+W+W = 2(L+W)
P = 2(11.2+2.8)
P = 2*14
P = 28
