.
Rectangle divided by 2:
(50cm^2)/2=25cm^2
Side of square with 25 cm^2 area:
s^2=area
s^2=25cm^2
s=5cm
Each small square has 5cm sides.
Rectangle is 5cm x 10 cm
.
2 triangles on short sides also have 5 cm sides.
2 triangles on longer sides have 10 cm sides.
The perimeter of the octagon consists of 2 sides 0f each triangle.
2 triangles x 2 sides x 5cm=20cm
2 triangles x 2 sides x 10cm=40cm
40cm+20cm=60cm
ANSWER: The perimeter of the octagon is 60 cm.
