On the right is a picture of one type of silo. The shape is a hemisphere on top of a cylinder. The diameter of the silo is 10 feet. The height of the silo is 30 feet.
a. Although this silo does not need to be painted, what is the area of the surface you would paint if you painted this silo? Justify your solution.

Calculate the lateral surface area of the cylindrical part. Calculate the surface area of the hemisphere part. Add the two areas.
