answer for a soup company decides to increase the height of its cans by 40% but to keep the volume the same.
approximately how much the radius of the can be decreased to keep the volume constant?
:
One way is to assume some values and find the % decrease in the radius
Original can 4 cm radius, 10 cm height
New can r = radius, 14 cm height
We can ignore pi here
14r^2 = 4^2*10
14r^2 = 160
r^2 = 160/14
r^2 = 11.4286
r =
r = 3.38cm is the new radius
Find the % decrease
4 - 3.38 = .62
* 100 = 15.5% decrease
