Question 861845: the measurement of the kitchen is 11' by 11' I got 121sqft as the floor area. I needed to find the area of one piece of tile which was 1.5ft by 1.5ft I got 6 then I had to figure how many tiles I needed to purchase to cover kitchen floor I got 20tiles. my question is did I do it right?

The circumference is 6 not the area
1.5*1.5=2.25 area
or another way
3/2*3/2=9/4=2.25
121/2.25=53.78 so get at least 54 tiles
There will be 49 whole tiles and each row and column will need part of a tile
49*2.25=110.25
121-110.25=10.75 in pieces
