Question 804546: Thanks in advance to whoever helps me.
The question is, The area of an equilateral triangle is 1 mile^2. Find its side length.
I have tried solving for h from A=1/2bh but end up with answers like 1=1. I feel like this should be very simple but for some reason it is just not clicking with me.
Thank for any help!

The area of an equilateral triangle is 1 mile^2. Find its side length.
-------------
Side length = s
h = (s/2)/cos(60)
or h = sqrt(s^2 - (s/2)^2)
Either way, h = s*sqrt(3)/2
----
Area = b*h/2
= s*s*sqrt(3)/4 = 1
s^2 = 4/sqrt(3)

s =~ 1.51937 miles
