Question 719533: Hi!
I am going to take advantage of your 5 problem limit. I am currently enrolled in Pre-Ap Geometry and I am going over circles.
My first problem is:
Ok, on my paper it shows a circle and most of the circle is shaded and it had a radius of 6. The arc = 78 degrees. How do I find the arc length and the area of the shaded region?

Answer by josgarithmetic(39617)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Exactly how is the shading distributed?

For the arc length of the the 78 degrees, since the radius is 6 (for the circle), the circumference would be . The proportion of the circumference equaling the arc length is , so this means that the arc length for the 78 degrees portion is . More simplified, be 78*pi/30=39*pi/15=.
