The area of a rectangular room is 238 square feet. The width is 3 feet less than the length. What are the dimensions?

Let the length be "x" ft.
Then the width is "x-3" ft.
Area = x(x-3)=238 sq. ft.
x^2-3x-238=0
(x-17)(x+14)=0
x=17 ft (This is the length)
x-3=14 (This is the width)
