It will probably help to draw a picture of this. Lets divide the concrete walk into four pieces, and figure our their dimensions. There are many ways to divide the walkway; I'll explain one way here. The important thing is to make sure you don't count any part of the walkway more than once.

Since we have a 8-foot by 10-foot flower bed, we can divide the walkway to four sections,
TOP: 2-feet wide by 8-feet long

BOTTOM: 2-feet long by 8-feet long

LEFT: 2 feet wide by 6-feet long (we already counted part of the left side in the top and bottom measurements.)

RIGHT: 2-feet by 6-feet long (we already counted some of the right side too.)

So the area of the walkway is
