An airplane weighs 2600 tons. How much would a model airplane with a scale of 1 to 100 weigh assuming it was made from the same materials? Express your answers in pounds.
3600 tons = 3600×2000 lbs = 7200000 lbs

The scale of 1 to 100 is their variation in length, not weight or volume.

Weight (and volume) vary directly as the cube of the length.

So we divide the 7200000 lbs by 100³ = 1000000 and get 7.2 lbs.
