"A design on the surface of a balloon is 9 cm wide when the balloon holds 62 cm3 of air. How much air does the balloon hold when the design is 18 cm wide?"
A.124 cm3
B.407 cm3
C.248 cm3
D.496 cm3"
THANK YOU!!!

Answer by jorel1380(3719)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
A=πr2
Surface area is a function of the square of the radius; therefore, when the radius doubles, the area increase by a factor of (2)2, or 4. Thus the design grows from 62 cm3 to 62x4, or 248 cm3..
