(b) The depth of the water in the can before the sphere was put in, giving your answer correct to the nearest mm.

There is an interesting relationship between the volumes of a cylinder, a cone, and a sphere. If these three figures have the same radius and the same height (i.e. the height = 2r, equaling the diameter of the sphere), then the volumes of the cone and sphere add up to the volume of the cylinder.
