Question 326330: A garden is 78sq yd and the length is 5 less than 3times the width. What is the dimensions?
Answer by mananth(16946) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
let width be x
length = 3x-5
Area = 78 sq. yards
add -78 to both sides
the roots of the equation x1, x2 can be found out by the formula
a= 3 , b= -5 , c = -78
x1=6 yards the width
length = 3x-5 = 3*6-5
=13 yards
x2= -4.3333
x2 is negative so we ignore
