The base of a triangle is 8x + 16 yards and its height is 1/ (x+2) yards. What is the area?
The area of the triangle is (base*height)/2 so we have:
area = (1/2)*(8x+16)*(1/x+2) =
(1/2)*(8x+16)/(x+2) =
(1/2)*8*(x+2)/(x+2) =
1/2*8*1 = 4
