Question 277729: are there certain shapes of rectangular prisms that have the least amount of surface area with equal volume? i am trying to redesign a cereal box so that it holds the same amount of cereal but uses less cardboard and creates less waste.
i could use trial and error on different shapes and sizes but was curious if there are general shapes i should start with? thanks

a cube is the rectangular prism with the lowest surface area to volume ratio
in general; the closer the values of length, width, and depth are to each other; the lower the ratio
