Find the area of the circle, then divide it by 2.

I assume by "wide" you mean the diameter.
The area of the whole circle is
r = d/2 = 1.5 feet
Area = 2.25*pi
Area/2 = 1.125*pi square feet
Area/2 =~ 3.534 sq feet
