How many tiles are needed for and 8ft by 8ft area with tiles that are 2 ft by
2 ft?
The space to be tiled has an area of 8*8 = 64 square feet.
Each tile is 2*2 = 4 square feet.
The number of tiles needed is then 64/4.

you need to find the area to be covered by tiles. 8ft by 8 ft (a small kitchen?)
you need to find the area covered by one tile. 2ft by 2 ft
then divide the large area by the small area (one tile area)that is (large area/one tile to find out how many tiles.
it won't be many since the area is small and the tiles are big.
