Question 23958: how do you find the surface area of pyramids?
Answer by yhtong(11) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
As you know, pyramids have 5 surfaces, that is the square base, and 4 triangles as the walls of the pyramid.
You have to understand that in surface area, you need to add all the surface area in a pyramid. Some students have mistakes whereby they thought that SURFACE AREA IS VOLUME which is precisely wrong.
In your question the first surface area is the square shaped base area,
it is length*breadth.
the next one are the 4 identical triangle
so it is 4(1/2 * base*height) of the triangle
finally, add all the surfaces area present in the triangle.
which is (length*breadth)+ [4(1/2 * base*height of the triangle)]
