A recreation room has the following dimensions. Carpeting will cost $8.00 a square yard. How many square yards of carpet will be needed and how much will it cost?
DIAGRAM HERE:

(triangle joining the two on the 5 yd of the rectangle and 4 yd side of the square)
(square)4yd x 4yd

I think I understand the question.
#1 rectangle 5x11=55
#2 rectangle 4x4=16
triangle 1/2bxh=
1/2(4)(5)=10
55+16+10=71sq yd
71x8=$568
