Because the triangle is inscribed in a semicircle, the height of 4 yards means the base is 8 yards. The 4 yards is also the radius of the semicircle.

Since all the given measurements are in yards, the area should be in square yards.

Area of shaded region = area of semicircle - area of triangle.

A = (1/2)(pi)(r^2)-(1/2)(base)(height)

A = (1/2)(pi)(4^2)-(1/2)(8)(4)
