Answer by addingup(3677)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The volume of your vessel is L x W x h (length x width x height):
20 x 15 x h = 48
300 x h = 48
since we have centimeters on one side and meters in the other, let's convert the centimeters to meters
3 x h = 48
h = 48/3 = 16 meters (this is a tall and skinny tube!)
The area in contact with the water:
20 x 15 . . . = 300
2(20 x 1600) = 64000
2(15 x 1600) = 48000
Total . . . .---------------
. . . . . . . = 112,300 square cm or 1123 square meters

If an open water tank has length of 20 cm and width of 15 cm which holds 48 liters of water how to calculate the height and surface area of cuboid in contact with the water.Thanks
.001 liters  = 1 cubic centimeters
48 liters = 48,000 cc
Height = 160 cm
Surface area in contact with water: Area of base, or length * width
+ Area of front & rear, or 2(length * height)
+ Area of left and right sides, or 2(width * height).
The answer MUST be in sq cm.
