Question 1055018: A gift has the dimensions of 50cm 35cm 5cm. you have wrapping paper with dimensions of 75cm 60cm. Do you have enough wrapping paper to wrap the gift? Why or why not?

Answer by Edwin McCravy(20056)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!

Area of top side = 50x35 = 1750 cm2.
Area of bottom side = 50x35 = 1750 cm2.
Area of front side = 50x5 = 250 cm2.
Area of back side = 50x5 = 250 cm2.
Area of left side = 35x5 = 175 cm2.
Area of right side = 35x35 = 175 cm2.

Surface area = 1750+1750+250+250+175+175 = 4350 cm2

Area of wrapping paper 75 x 60 = 4500 cm2

Yes, there is enough wrapping paper to wrap the present.
