Question 90921This question is from textbook Elementary Algebra
: Hello,
I cannot find topic - Factoring a Perfect-Square Trinomial
My problem is:
16x^2 - 40x + 25 - Okay I know that the first & third #'s need to squared.
But I'm getting lost trying to break it down.....the examples gives:
(4x)^2 - 2(4x)(5)+ 5^2 = (4x-5)^2
I just can't seem to figure out how they got there.
Thanks for any help you can give...hope it makes sense...
Cristina

Question 91108: I submitted this question and got an answer but it's not one of the answer choices on my lesson sheet. I follow your explanation until step 5-6 then I don't understand the rest. I am reposting the same question with the answer choices this time. I'm thinking the answer is "b" by the answer you came up with. Do you agree?
What is the square root of 162x^6 over 64x^2
The answer choices are: a. 3x^2 sq. root 2 over 8; b. 9x^2 sq. root 2 over 8
or c. 3x^2 sq. root 2 over 4 Thank you once again for your help.

Question 91372: I thought biology was difficult, geez. I don't see any potential solutions for the 1st question. the x's cancel each other out. wait x = -2 by subtracting 2 from both sides gives x = -2?
1.sq root /x + 2 - x = 0 any potential solutions? Cancel out the x’s
This is undefined?

C computes the cost in millions of $ of implementing a city infastructure project when x percent of the citizens participate.
C(x) = 1.5x / 100-x
Using this model, approximately what is the cost if 40% of the citizens participate?
Using this model, estimate the percentage of participation that can be excepted if $5 million is spent on this infastructure project? Set up an equation and solve algebraically. Round to the nearest whole percent.
3.
