Question 81537: I am doing apythagorean theorem problem, here the problem
a squared + b squared + c squared
a= 8 b=15 c=?
8 squared + 15 squared = c squared
64 + 225 = c squared
c squared = 64 + 225
c squared = 289
c = 17
my question is how can you subract the squared from 289 to 17 without the calculator, I know I cannot divded by 2 since it came out 144.5 . Is there a way for me to figured this out?

3/[SQRT(5) - 2]
I am pretty sure I need to multiply 3/[SQRT(5) - 2] by SQRT(5)+2 / SQRT (5) +2.
Which I think would bring me to an answer of 3[SQRT(5)+6. I am not sure if i did everything right and am wonder if I came to the correct answer. Thank you.
