You should know from basic multiplication facts that 50 is near 49, and . You should expect that sqrt(50) is larger than 7 but much less than 8.

If you'all know how to find an approximation for square root of two, then you can just perform the multiplication.
1.4142 is APPROXIMATELY square root of 2.
