Question 97808: how do you add, subtract, or multiply square roots?
Answer by checkley71(8403) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
consider square roots as just another unknown like x,y,z, etc.
(sqrt5)+(sqrt7) these are just like x+y
(sqrt5)+(sqrt5) this is like x+2 2(sqrt5)
(sqrt25)(sqrt36) here we need some factoring (sqrt5*5)(sqrt6*6) or 5*6=30
(sqrt3)(sqrt5) here we just multiply the digits (sqrt3*5)=(sqrt15)
HOPE THIS SHEDS A LITTLE LIGHT ON THE SUBJEST OF SQUARE ROOTS.
SUGGEST YOU GET A TEXT BOOK ON ALGEBRA WITH SQUARE ROOTS & FORMULAS AS WELL AS SOME GEOMETRY AS THIS ALSO USES MANY SQUARE ROOTS.
