I apologize if this makes it difficult. I need to know how to SIMPLIFY and SOLVE "What is the SQUARE ROOT of 16x to the 2nd power?"

Let sqrt be "square root" for short.

We want to simplify sqrt{16x^2}.

Notice that the radicand is 16x^2, which is

a perfect square.

Ask yourself: What number times itself

is 16? You know that 4 times 4 is 16.

This means 4 is part of the answer.

Ask yourself: What term when multiplied

by itself will produce x^2?

How about x? Yes, x times x is x^2.

In conclusion,sqrt{16x^2} is 4x.
