Question 81002: how do i solve
sqrt(x+7)=7-sqrt(3x)
Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
solve
sqrt(x+7)=7-sqrt(3x)
Rewrite as:
sqrt(x+7)+sqrt(3x)=7
Square both sides to get:
(x+7)+sqrt[(x+7)(3x)]+3x = 49
Isolate the sqrt term:
sqrt[....] = -4x+42
Square both sides again:
[3x(x+7)] = 16x^2-168x+42^2
3x^2+21x = 16x^2-168x+1764
13x^2-189x+1764=0
x=[189+-sqrt(189^2-4*13*1764)]/26
x=[189+-sqrt(-56007)]/26
x=[189+-236.66i]/26
x=[7.27.. +- 9.10..i]
