Question 795396: x+3= sqrt (1-3x)
First i squared both sides of the equation and got
x^2+6x+9=1-3x
Then i knew i had to factor because it was a quadratic so I put everything to one side of the equal sign so it equalled zero, i got
x^2+9x+8
I think i went wrong somewhere because I cannot factor that equation

Answer by Alan3354(69443)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
x+3= sqrt (1-3x)
First i squared both sides of the equation and got
x^2+6x+9=1-3x
Then i knew i had to factor because it was a quadratic so I put everything to one side of the equal sign so it equalled zero, i got
x^2+9x+8
I think i went wrong somewhere because I cannot factor that equation
-------------
Equations are not factored, equations are solved.
-------
x^2+9x+8 = 0
(x + 1)*(x + 8) = 0
You were almost home.
