Question 757458: I don't understand how to figure out a square of a number. An example is 169. The square root of that is 13 but I thought it was 43 because square of 16 is 4 and square of 9 is 3 so it makes it 43.

Finding or understanding square of a number is not a trick. The concept is extremely clear: If n is a number, then is the square. If N is a number, then is a square. If y is a number, then is a square.
Using the number, 43, the square of 43 is .

Understand carefully, no whole number squared will give 43. Also, no rational number squared will give 43.
