Question 75672: A six digit number has a six in one's place. Can its square root be a prime number?

You can put this solution on YOUR website! No it cannot. Every prime number is odd (except 2) and since an odd number multiplied by an odd number is an odd number (for instance 9*9=81 or 7*7=49), so we have to rule out any odd number as a possible square root. Since any even number multiplied by an even number is even, this means the root of any 6 digit number with a 6 at the end will be even and not prime. So it is therefore impossible for a 6 digit number with a 6 in the ones place to have a prime square root.
