Answer by DrBeeee(684)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
If you mean
(1) 2*sqrt(x) + 5 = 6
You get
(2) 2*sqrt(x) = 1 or
(3) sqrt(x) = 1/2
Squaring both sides yields
(4) x = 1/4
If you mean
(5) 2*sqrt(x+5) = 6
You get
(6) sqrt(x+5) = 3
Squaring both sides yields
(7) x + 5 = 9 or
(8) x = 4
Take your choice, (4) or (8)
