Question 633235: x-squarerootx=6
Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
x-squarerootx=6
----
(sqrt(x))^2 - sqrt(x) - 6 = 0
----
Factor:
(sqrt(x)-3)(sqrt(x)+2) = 0
----
sqrt(x) = 3 or sqrt(x) = -2
---
Sqrt(x) cannot be -2
----
So, sqrt(x) = 3
Therefore x = 9
