I got : -7-√2
Please show work through steps so I can understand this properly and know where I went wrong if I completed this incorrectly. Thank you for your time !! I realy appreciate it :)

You start with a conjugate pair of binomial expressions which always results in the difference of two squares; in general the pattern is:
(a\ -\ b)\ =\ a^2\ -\ b^2)

first outer inner last
or you should know that x^2-y^2=(x+y)*(x-y)
where x=sqrt(2) and y=3
answer should be 2-9=-7
