Since you have a square root on one side of the equation, think about squaring both sides as the first step in the solution.
Square both sides.
49 = 2x + 3 Subtract 3 from both sides.
46 = 2x Divide both sides by 2.
x = 23.
You can check this by substituting the 23 into the original equation wherever an x appears and see that the two sides are equal.
