(x + 8)^2 = 81
---
(x+8)^2-9^2 = 0
Factor:
[x+8-9][x+8+9] = 0
[x-1][x+17] = 0
x = 1 or -17

(x+8)(x+8)=81
x2+16x+64=81
x2+16x-17=0
(x+17)(x-1)=0
x=-17 or 1.
