Question 375662: What is -3 squared? What is (-3)squared? How do the parentheses affect the answer?
Answer by rfer(16322) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
With the minus sign inside the parentheses it is just a minus times a minus which equals a plus answer.
If the minus was outside, then you would multiply by -1, which will give a minus answer.
Both answers are the same in this case above.
