: I need help!
For the equation x-SQRT x = 0, perform the following:
a) Solve for all values of x that satify the equation.
b) Graph the function y=x and y=SQRT x on the same graph (by plotting pints if neccessary). Show the points of intersection of these two graphs.

Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
a) Factor out sqrt s to get:
(sqrt x)(sqrt x - 1)=0
Then either sqrt x=0, so x=0
OR sqrt(x)=-1=0, so sqrt(x)=1 and x=1
So the solutiontins are x=0 and x=1
b)y=x is a straight line thru points (0,0) and (1,1)
y=sqrt x is a curve thru points (0,0) and (1,1), and (4,2) and etc.

Stan H.
