Can someone explain the steps to me for solving this equation?
x- sqrt 15-2x = 0
Assume the problem is

:
Add to both sides
:

:
Squaring both sides gets rid of the radical
x^2 = 15 - 2x
:
Arrange as a quadratic equation
x^2 + 2x - 15 = 0
:
Factors to
(x+5)(x-3) = 0
:
Two solutions
x = -5
and
x = +3,
:
Check solutions in original equation
x = 3

3 - 3 = 0; a good solution
:
however when x = -5

-5 - 5 does not = 0, not a solution
