Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Solve algebraically.
1. cuberoot(x)-5=3
cubrt(x) = 8
x = 8^3
x = 512
----------------------
2.x^(3/2)=27
Raise both sides to the (2/3) power to get:
x = 27^(2/3)
x = 3^2
x = 9
-----------------------
3.3/4=1-3x-2/x+1
Comment: Include parenthese so fractions can be distinguised.
---------------------------
Sove algebraically and check your potential solutions.
4.square root of x+2-x=0
sqrt(x+2) = x
x+2 = x^2
x^2-x-2 = 0
(x-2)(x+1) = 0
x = 2 or x = -1
---
Checking:
If x = 2 you get sqrt(0)=2
false so x=2 is not a solution
------------
If x = -1 you get sqrt(1) = -1
false so x = -1 is not a solution
