That all depends upon what you want to do with a square root problem! Maybe you should go to my website (click on my tutor name "rapaljer" anywhere in algebra.com, and then look for "Basic Algebra", then look for a page called "Samples from Basic Algebra: One Step at a Time," then look for Chapter 5. Then you will find a whole explanation from the beginning to as far as you probably need to go in your first algebra level. Look for sections 5.01, 5.02, 5.03, and 5.04.
